Minister John Moloney today, Saturday 11th October opened the 11th Annual National Conference of the Alzheimer’s Society in the Tullamore Court Hotel. The theme of this conference is “Nurturing Ourselves – Caring for Each Other”.

The main aims of this Conference are to equip carers with a greater understanding of how to care for their clients, and also, how to nurture themselves.

Current thinking on the topic of dementia care was presented and discussed, including updates on the latest treatments and research. Today’s Conference included a presentation on the topic of “Maintaining Health and Wellbeing in Dementia Care”, which explored current thinking on the subject. “Recent Developments in Medical Research” was also addressed, and informed carers on how best to provide high quality care to people with dementia.
