Conway Review Lecture 1992

Alpha-Adrenoceptors: From Theoretical Concept to Molecular Visualisation

Professor James R. Docherty, Department of Physiology, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, 123 St. Stephen’s Green Dublin 2.

Introduction

Firstly, I would like to thank the Academy and the committee of the Section of Biomedical Sciences for inviting me to give this, the sixteenth Conway Review Lecture. It is customary for the Review Lecturer to make mention of how Professor Conway has influenced his work, but it is difficult when one works in such a different field. However, I am sure Professor Conway would have been pleased to see that I start this lecture by reference to another famous scientist of his time, Raymond Ahlquist.
