History of Medicine Section, Wednesday 16th October 2019_Winston Churchill’s Medical Men

16/10/2019 in Geoffrey Bourke Room, First Floor, Setanta House, Dublin 2

Winston Churchill’s Medical Men

Many aspects of Churchill’s illnesses have already been described, but much of what has appeared in the literature, to date, has been incorrect. The information in the lecture comes from many sources, but thanks especially to the late Lord Moran Jr and Churchill family members, it will contain previously unpublished information. Churchill’s major illnesses from his early childhood to his death in 1965 will be discussed. Many of the diseases he is supposed to have suffered from will be exposed as myths. The personalities of Churchill’s famous, contemporary London doctors will be described along with the medical politics that frequently intervened!
