Section of OtoRhinoLaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery (ORL HNS), Registrar’s Prize Meeting, Friday, 22nd March 2024

22/03/2024 in Midlands Park Hotel & Conference Centre, Co. Laois

Dear Colleagues,

Prof Keogh and I would like to thank all who attended and supported this year’s Spring RAMI meeting held on Friday 22nd March in the Midlands Park Hotel & Conference Centre, Co Laois. It really was a fantastic meeting with plenty of interaction from our panel and attendees.

In particular, I would like to thank our panel moderators – Ms Colleen Heffernan (paediatrics), Prof. Rory Mc Conn Walsh (Otology & Neurotology, ISONO), Mr Mohamed Amin (Rhinology) and all the panel members, who gave their time to attend and participate in this year’s RAMI meeting. I would also like to thank Mr Thava Kumar Subramanian who gave a very interesting talk on robotic surgery and our guest speaker Prof. Kavin Andi, St Georges University Hospital, UK  who gave us presentations on something very different and thought-provoking! Thank you also to our trainee presenters.

Congratulations to Ross O Shea who won first prize for his presentation and  Nadia Van Den Berg who won the runner-up prize.

And finally, a big thank you to the trainees and colleagues from around the country who supported this year’s meeting, without local support the RAMI  wouldn’t exist. I would encourage the ENT family to please support all our local national meetings including the IOS and upcoming IHNS meeting in Kilkenny, a huge amount of work and personnel time goes into running these meetings which is clearly reflected in the academic content, invited guest speakers and consultant panels. The RAMI programme was awarded 6 CPD points this year.  Apart from the academic side, socialising with colleagues from around the country over coffee, at the gala dinner or interacting during a panel discussion is really important for building collegiality, as a “relatively young” consultant I know how important that is!

Regards,

Dr Eimear Phelan

Section Secretary, RAMI ORL-HNS
